Sin Is Optional

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

I find that this verse is very encouraging. Sin is optional. I don’t have to let Satan trip me up. I don’t have to slide back into the flesh. But there is always a way to avoid sin. I know this is kind of obvious, but sometimes I need a reminder. Often I find myself so blinded by my flesh I don’t see the way of escape, or even think to look for it, until after I have sinned. You know the saying “Think before you act”? Well, too often I “Act before I think”. I need to remember to think ”What Would Jesus Do?” before everything I do.

Off-topic, I have been thinking about character flaws too. I wish they didn’t exist. I’m finding that all I can do is fix them temporarily. The only way to fix these flaws is to give them to God with an open heart and let him change you. It’s so hard to do. I wish it was as simple as it sounds. I pray that the Lord will help me. With the Lord’s help, may we all get closer to Him, with every passing day.
